Vietnam Day 3! - Dalat part 2

it's a freezing cold morning!! juz back from the morning market, bought this sticky, tausuan-like snack back..quite nice leh...

nice cathedral... din go in thou... read from Lonely Planet that the interior is quite nice with all the mossaic windows and stuffs... but poor maintenance... this is our landmark when we wanna make our way back to the town...haha... quite easy to get lost... but then again it's damn easy to come back also... lots of time somehow or another, we juz automatically returned to the town without realising while we were on our scooter....

oooh.... threatening us to go back to hotel to nuahz... thou a tempting thought, but we will not be beaten!! go back home also can nuah, why come all the way here....?

still trying to get the hang of the bike... kept having rough start-up, yanbin almost fell off quite a few times...heheh... paisay ahz....

hehz.. anyway i think this was the last pic we took b4 it started pouring.... gotta head back to hotel fast!! when it 1st started to drizzle we made a pit stop by a shop hoping that we can get some shelter and some lunch... but apparently it's a provision shop, no proper food... nevertheless we grabbed a couple of ponchos and head str back.... my poncho was a torn one btw... tried to exchange for a 3rd one...also torn.. aiya dun care le la... rain coming!!

after a warm water shower we decided to settle our lunch in the hotel's cafeteria... it wasn't very expensive thou... still cheaper than SG hawker food... and it taste not bad too! had this pancake lookalike thing... they say it's indian influence... prata? will beansprout and meat and prawn... (im getting hungry now...)

"no...!! dun go....!! dun go!!"

"wait for me okay....!!!! i'll be back after we win the war........!!"

wayang lah.... haha!! after a quick nap we were out again!! aiyah rented the bike for whole day nv go out very wasted de leh... and come all the way to VN to sleep in hotel meh?? took this pic in a train station apparently not in use... dunno if it's abandoned or wad la... nv ask and nv go read the notices....

training up to go into Guinness Book of Record 2006!!

eh thou i wrapped up till like that.... it was still damn cold lor... esp when im facing the wind on the bike... both hands were red at the end of the day....

u know where's the best place to find local snacks and street foodfare?? outside schools!! all the stalls popping out from nowhere the moment the kids were dismissed from sch...

grilled crisp-thin pancake... ooh, hot hot...

the evening sky nice hor...? managed to catch this view only because i made the wrong turn on our way back to the city centre... hah.. i m not lost!!! =

the congee in Dalat u cannot miss!! coz of the chilly weather, ppl like to haf congee in the evening...and with lots of fillings one!! seafood, chicken, pork... but it's not enough for us la...we went for dinner Part 2.... pho!!

the nice auntie who made excellent pho... yb commented that she likes the market ppl better... very nice and warm and they dun chop carrot off us... hehe...

we're in par-ri~~?

vietnam day 2! - the Mekong Delta

day 2 was spent in a 1-day tour in the Mekong Delta.. delta is made up from the deposition of suspended sediment the the downstream of a river.. for more info, click here ....

actually juz 1 day is not enough to see the whole delta de.. and actually the tours provided
are all very brief... touch and go.... they say will bring us to Tortoise Island, but we go there only for lunch leh...also nv intri anything abt it to us... how it got it's name etc etc... and also nv tell us anything abt the 3 other islands - Dragon, Phoenix and Unicorn.... we din even get to see how ppl work in the agri fields... thou rice cultivation makes up their major source of income there... anyway,,,, the pics!!!

ermm.... how the hell did the photo come out like tat?? it was upright in my folder lehz... anyway... after hours of long bus ride, we're finally at the river!!

yb got a crush on this ah boy the moment she saw him.. i took a pic of them both but he damn chao bin the moment yb posed in front of him... hehe..

at an orchard!! got longan lehz.. muz be damn sweet coz there's lots of ants!!

these 2 Singaporean girls we met in that same tour... one is already working, the other currently studying medicine abroad, now back for holiday... see (her face) how rocky the sampans are... rowed damn fast...

we're much more composed.... hehe... Smilez!!

ooh!! big fish!!! actually they're a bit tasteless.. im not being picky.. really!! heng they got tasty sauce to go along with... and we supposed to eat them wrapped up in rice paper, with vege and spring onions... it's SGD$9 per fish...not cheap hor...? very touristy.....

the non-japanese group

cooking coconut candy... very nice when it's freshly made!!

japanese tourists!! all of them so fair and tender u see...? all wanna avoid the sunlight on the boat lor...the boat almost flipped away from the sun because all of them wanna be in the shade!!

wad's that i see???

fwah!!!

dinner @ the Original Bodhi Tree. this restaurant was recommended by the Lonely Planet and apparentl it attracted quite a crows of vegetarians... yup.... vegetarians... the food is not bad..the price is good... and they understands english (slightly)!! recommended!

now back to pack.. ready for nite bus to Dalat.....

vietnam day 1 - ho chi minh!!

budget budget!!

boarding @ 645am

the Mekong River!! much bettere than in ur "O" level Geo textbk rite??

see we're so damn well-prepared!! but actually hor the more books we haf the more indecisive we will be...

see how contented she is with the room of choice!!

i wonder how did they manage to trace the wirings de.. and this pillar is not the worst of them all....

according to Lonely Planet (or is it Footprints....?) the only way we can cross the roads here is by walking very slowly.. so that the motorists can weave ard us.... dun run!! apparently there're 4.5 million motorbikes in juz Saigon alone... enough to distrivute one each in Singapore lehz....

Brunch!! managed to find this stall some distance away from the main touristy street... but once we're out of that street, no one speaks english... feeling damn handicapped leh.... the Vietnamese mainly eat rice and noodles... usually rice with "sth else"... meat...grilled or boiled... noodle soup with meat... oh they're diet consist of lots of raw cabbages and mint!! i nv constipate there....

yb damn interested to see wad the ppl are selling in their baskets... and she found daohuey!! in the bustling market of chinatown... decided to explore the area on foot... LOTS of walking!! managed to find the local Chinatown where we found ONE chinese-speaking uncle!! so damn happy.... i saw a stall selling damn nice roast duck but no matter how hard we tried to explain wad we wan....i wanted a drumstick... no one in that stall understands!! damn...

anyway the map in those guide books r not exactly very accurate lehz.... the road is definitely longer than it seems on the map.... we gave up after walking 800km along that 1 street... heng ah!! the moment we boarded a bus to Ben Thanh Market, it started raining lightly....

wahahhh!! limousine!! long as a bus... i tot ppl here has lower standards of living...? talking in standards of living...i got sth to share... next time...remind me k?

feet damn tired le... so decided to sit down for a drink!! their tables and stools all damn low can?? next day i got backaches from eating at the roadsides le...
